ax-lightness ULTRA 80C – The aerodynamic flagship for triathlon and time trial
Riders who refuse to compromise in the pursuit of every second will find their ideal partner in the ULTRA 80C. The 80 mm deep-section profile makes it the most aerodynamically efficient wheelset in the ULTRA series – unleashing its full potential on flat courses, in triathlons, and during time trials. With a 30 mm external width and 24 mm internal rim width, it is designed for road bike tires from 25 mm width and offers a balanced combination of aero performance and comfort. The total weight is 1,590 grams (including tubeless rim tape, ± 5 %) – an outstanding figure for an 80 mm profile with carbon spokes. The approved system weight is 130 kg.
The bulbous rim shape was developed in the wind tunnel and ensures controlled handling even in crosswinds despite the deep profile. The 20 carbon bladed spokes per wheel, laced in a 2-cross pattern, provide maximum stiffness and direct power transfer. They are lighter and more aerodynamic than conventional spoke materials and contribute significantly to the overall performance of the wheelset.
The in-house ax-lightness ULTRA CX hubs with ratchet freehub and ceramic bearings complete the package with minimal rolling resistance and maximum durability. The matte UD finish with black laser-etched decals underlines its uncompromising performance focus.
The weight, including tubeless rim tape, is just 1,590 grams (+/–5 %), making the ULTRA 80C the ideal racer, especially for flat road stages, triathlons, and time trial (TT) applications.
